~ Making the use of science teaching materials more accessible and intuitive through generative AI ~
iNexus Inc. / 株式会社インネクサス (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Directors: Rikiei Watanabe and Zhenbin Zhang; hereinafter “iNexus”), an EdTech startup operating a STEM+C** education platform, is pleased to announce that it has developed and introduced “AI Ise-chan,” a conversational navigation assistant powered by generative AI, for the “Science Teaching Materials Database*1” operated by the Institute for Science & Education (hereinafter “ISE”) of Ochanomizu University.

Background and Purpose
The “Science Teaching Materials Database” operated by ISE is a public educational resource widely used mainly by teachers and others involved in science education. While a large volume of excellent materials has been accumulated over the years, searching and selecting them sometimes required specialized knowledge and a certain level of operational skill, leaving room to further improve accessibility and convenience.
In response to these challenges, iNexus applied generative-AI technology to develop “AI Ise-chan,” which lets users reach the materials they need smoothly through a conversational interface. It is designed so that, in addition to teachers, even users who are not highly ICT-literate—such as elementary-school children and their guardians—can operate it easily using natural language. This makes access to science teaching materials intuitive and familiar for a wider range of users.

Key Features of “AI Ise-chan”
- Generative-AI conversational interface
Users enter their goal or keywords in natural language, and relevant materials and related information are presented instantly. - User experience designed for a wide range of users
An interface and response style approachable not only for teachers but also for beginners such as children and guardians. - Safe design mindful of educational settings
Responses are limited to expressions and information structures suitable for education and research, ensuring accuracy and decorum. - Extensibility and continuous improvement
A structure that accumulates user feedback and can continually reflect improvements in dialogue quality and search accuracy.
Outlook
Through this initiative, iNexus will demonstrate the potential of generative AI to fundamentally transform how knowledge is accessed in educational settings. Going forward, we aim to deepen collaboration with other educational institutions, municipalities, and research organizations, and to bring the optimal use of AI in learning environments into real-world practice.
**What is STEM+C? To “STEM” — the initials of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics — are added the “4 Cs” advocated as essential in the 21st century: Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication. To these, iNexus adds Contact — the hands-on, experiential learning we especially value — for a new educational approach built on five “+C”s.
